How to Make a Simple Italian Tomato Sauce

How to Make a Simple Italian Tomato Sauce

Difficulty level: Crazy easy πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

This recipe is your ticket to never wanting to buy sugary bottled tomato sauce again. It’s perfect by itself with pasta (especially fresh pasta), gnocchi or can be used in bakes like spinach and ricotta cannelloni.

Ingredients

  • 2 tins crushed tomatoes, or a 600ml bottle of passata

  • Leaves picked from a bunch of basil

  • 3 cloves garlic, finely diced

  • Extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon salt

What you need to do

  1. Add a generous splash of olive oil to a pan. Add the garlic and cook over low heat, until it becomes fragrant.

  2. Add the crushed tomato along with the basil.

  3. Fill up your cans with water (so you have an equal amount of water to tomato). Add the water to the sauce.

  4. Add the salt and cook over low heat for about 30 minutes. If you want it to be ready faster, just add less water earlier on.
